Memory Care Unit
Our memory care unit at City View includes all the standard features of a retirement residence designed to ensure comfort and security, along with several distinctive elements that set it apart.
Bright, thoughtfully selected colours and engaging murals decorate the walls, creating a warm and supportive environment. Every aspect of the 20-room wing—our dedicated memory care unit—is designed to help individuals living with Alzheimer’s or dementia experience a meaningful and fulfilling daily life.
Memory care goes beyond simply providing 24-hour supervision and meeting physical needs. While safety and support remain essential, there is also a strong emphasis on purposeful programming and meaningful engagement, helping residents connect with their experiences, interests, and sense of identity.
The unit is modelled after an innovative memory living approach that is gaining popularity across Canada and internationally. In addition to incorporating familiar objects and décor that can spark recognition and comfort, the program takes a highly personalized approach to care, recognizing each resident’s unique history, preferences, and abilities.
